Historic Inn

Sorell, Near Hobart - Tasmania

The Bluebell Inn was originally built in 1829. This was a single storey timber building that featured 17 rooms and a ballroom and was the centre of social activity in the district. After a fire in 1863 destroyed the original building, the Bluebell Inn was rebuilt of convict brick and sandstone as a two-storey building. A ballroom was incorporated upstairs in the new building. The construction included timbers such as Huon Pine, Oregon, Blackwood and Cedar.

Today the Bluebell Inn has been restored and now boasts 4 dining rooms with open fireplaces, 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, an elegant ball room and a commercial kitchen with 3 phase power and gas connections. On the top level is an open attic area with 200sqm of extra space which could be converted to extra guestrooms (STCA)

In recent times the Bluebell Inn has been used as a fine dining restaurant and B&B and could easily be set up again to run along similar lines (STCA).

Sorell is the gateway to the Tasman Peninsula and sees a high flow through of Tourists and is a mere 20 minutes drive from Hobart and only 5 minutes to the domestic airport.
