3 Cottages and home on 2 acres
Beechworth - Victoria
Winterwood Park consists of three self-contained cottages and a manager’s residence located about a kilometre from town.
Each cottage is 17 metres from its neighbour, and in facing away from the house, each one is assured of privacy.
The cottages are all very spacious. They are constructed of rough-cut red cedar with cedar French doors in all the main rooms, including the spa. There is a veranda outside the living room and bedrooms with an open deck in between. Each open deck has an outdoor setting and barbeque.
The house has one and a half stories. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms, kitchen, family, dining and living rooms plus laundry and storage. There is a separate reception/office incorporated into the front corner off the living-room. The kitchen was designed with commercial aspects to allow for the serving of food.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in robe, and a retreat. This is an ideal relaxing space, with a deck and veranda overlooking the wetland and hills beyond.
There is also a three bay barn with roller doors at each end.
The return trade is increasing year by year. Many book all three cottages for special weekends.
Close to Spring Creek, Lake Sambell and with a newly created wetland immediately on the doorstep, there is no difficulty in getting used to the space, trees and fresh air surrounding you.
Living in Beechworth also brings us its own attraction. It is a shire which prides itself on maintaining the heritage values that keep the tourism industry in an active and vibrant state. There are many events that are held every year as the Golden Horseshoes festival at Easter and Ned Kelly weekend in August just name two. Regional events like the Wangaratta Jazz festival in November always attract interest. Beechworth is known as a top tourist area in Victoria and the Indigo Shire rates at number 15 out of 590 for the most liveable shire in Australia (Bankwest Quality of Life Survey 2008.)
Beechworth is situated at a crossroads in the Northeast. There are the snowfields to the east, King Valley and Milawa gourmet area in the south, Albury/Wodonga to the north, and to the west are the famous Rutherglen wineries.
